This advertisement is for a/an Library Technical Assitatnt, Safety position(s) located at Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City, Del Norte County. Please indicate the position number on your application: 394-234-1318-xxx.

Current State employees may be eligible for a Training and Development Assignment (T&D), in which they can gain up to 24 months of experience in a different position. At the end of the 24-month period, the employee may meet the Minimum Qualifications (MQ’s) of the classification and have eligibility to take the examination. The employee retains their current salary during the duration of the T&D. The T&D can be ended at any time by either party and the employee has return rights to their former permanent/probationary position. For example, an Office Technician (OT) can T&D to a Library Technical Assistant (Safety) (LTA). They would be paid the OT salary while on the T&D, and gain experience as a LTA to meet the MQ’s of the CSC classification.

Working Conditions

Pelican Bay State Prison is located in Crescent City. Situated in the northwest corner of California along the Pacific coast, this thriving community is famous for some of the world’s most beautiful coastline. Cool ocean mists nurture the giant Redwoods in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. The crystal clear Smith River is one of California’s largest wild river systems. The majestic Redwood forests, local beaches, river rafting, miles of hiking and wonderful places to fish are all easily accessible. Special Requirements

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget.  PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3% reduction in pay in exchange for five (5) hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027.  Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
