Overview Waterton Teenie Weenie Theatre Company is a professional Theatre for Young Audiences Company. We are nestled in the town site of Waterton in the Waterton Lakes National Park. For the past year of development, we had an understanding with the Cardston Carriage House Theatre to hire their cast to provide them with daytime jobs in July and August, supplementing their evening performances. We have now reached a mutual realization that the rehearsal demands would not be conducive and so we are quickly searching for actors to create our own cast. We have obtained our four women and are now just finalizing our men. We are in need of two more MEN. Shows Musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “Emperor’s New Clothes” Original black light puppet theatre show, “Bloom” Original old-fashioned melodrama, “Historical Hysterics” set in the 1920s on the day the Prince of Wales Hotel opens their doors to the public. Company activities We also run two-hour single-day camps led by our actors to engage children in storytelling using costumes, props and music. Each day camp mirrors the genre of that day’s performances. Requirements and skills Proficiency in singing, acting, puppetry — or willingness to learn Ability to work with children; children’s theatre is an honest and rewarding form of acting Timeline and schedule Rehearsals in May. Each show receives a week of rehearsal before opening on the Saturday of that week, with Saturday performances continuing through June. In June, morning performances for school field trip groups occur, and daily during the Waterton Wildflower Festival (last week of June). In July and August, shows run at 11:00 am followed by a two-hour day camp, then another performance at 3:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Each show runs approximately 45 minutes. Compensation and employment details You would be hired under contract for $3,000+ (depending on performance results; a guaranteed minimum of $3,000 is stated). Local employers in Waterton may hire actors part-time to work in hospitality settings (e.g., Starbucks, Bay Shore Inn/Glacier Suites) with pay around $12.00 per hour plus tips.
