Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our boutique immigration law practice specializing in EB-1A (Extraordinary Ability) and EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petitions. This is a fully remote position (30 hours/week) working directly with the attorney to prepare high-stakes employment-based immigration paperwork for some of the world’s most interesting and accomplished people.

You don’t need to have a legal background. In fact, the position may be perfect for a journalist or ghostwriter, or PhD holder in any field.

You will be responsible for research, writing, and compiling papers.

This role requires sophisticated writing skills, attention to detail, curiosity about different academic fields, and the ability to synthesize complex technical information.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated person who thrives on intellectual challenges, can work independently and asynchronously, and takes pride in producing exceptional work product.

Key Duties

Legal Research & Analysis (10%)

Conduct legal research via LexisNexis and other databases to find relevant stories

Research and summarize comparable approved/denied EB-1A and NIW cases to inform case strategy

Research petitioners' fields of expertise, industry trends, and comparable achievements

Conduct preliminary research on prospective clients' backgrounds, publications, citations, and awards

Legal Writing & Brief Drafting (40%)

Draft cover letters, legal briefs, and petition packages for EB-1A and NIW cases

Prepare responses to USCIS Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs)

Write evidentiary sections, background narratives, and legal argument frameworks

Apply analogical legal reasoning using precedent cases to support client positions

Draft arguments for the three-prong Dhanasar test

Write rule statements, rule explanations, and "statement of facts" sections

Draft client affidavits and proposed endeavor statements

Reference Letter Development (30%)

Draft reference letters with distinct, authentic voices

Review and improve recommendation letters for specificity and persuasive impact

Evidence Organization & Document Preparation (10%)

Compile and organize evidence exhibits (publications, citations, media coverage, awards, patents)

Document Google Scholar citations, h-index data, and impact metrics

Complete I-140 petition forms and supporting documentation

Create comprehensive exhibit lists and supporting documentation checklists

Ensure document consistency across entire petition packages

Cross-reference brief citations with supporting documents

Quality Control & Verification (5%)

Fact-check all claims and verify that they are supported by evidence

Verify regulation citations and ensure quoted language matches source material

Apply Bluebook citation formatting and proper use of signals (See, supra, Id.)

Identify and flag fabricated or unverifiable information

Create quality control checklists for petition review

Client Management (5%)

Manage client communications regarding evidence collection and case logistics (no legal advice)

Track case deadlines for filings, RFE responses, and client deliverables

Prepare client intake questionnaires and manage document collection

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher

Exceptional English writing ability - this is non-negotiable. You must be able to write clear, persuasive, grammatically flawless legal prose

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment
