Job Description
Position Title: Welder
Wage: $20-$24/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6am-2:30pm Monday-Friday
Join a dynamic fabrication team in Kansas City as a skilled Welder and play a key role in producing high-quality metal products! If you have hands-on experience with MIG welding, stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum, and a passion for precision, this is your opportunity to work with cutting-edge welding technology, including automated and robot welders.
Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Obtain specified electrode and insert electrode into portable holder or thread consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun
- Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified
- Start power supply to produce electric current; strike (forms) arc, which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of workpiece
- Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle
- Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture
- Measure part dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
- May tack assemblies together
- May operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for welding
- Work safely at all times and follow safety procedures
- Operate any equipment needed to perform job
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervision
Welder Requirements: - High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or vocational training, or experience in a metal fabrication shop
- Ability to speak and read English
- Must consistently meet weld quality standards
- Demonstrate knowledge of MIG, stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum welding, and automated welding where applicable
- Must supply your own hand tools
- Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodations
- Ability to stand on feet for 10- or 12-hour shifts
