Talent4Health is seeking a travel nurse RN Perioperative for a travel nursing job in State College, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:
• Assesses and responds to patients’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs through direct observation and interaction; serves as a patient advocate.
• Utilizes professional nursing judgment to implement nursing care plans and address identified patient problems.
• Communicates patient assessments and clinical findings to appropriate team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Performs and interprets diagnostic measures including labs, radiology coordination, and EKGs; initiates and manages IV therapy.
• Accurately transcribes and implements physician orders while efficiently admitting patients to the surgical center.
• Documents patient care timely and accurately in electronic medical records; verifies surgical documentation, site marking, and anesthesia clearance prior to procedures.
• Provides appropriate education and instructions to patients and family members regarding procedures and care plans.
• Manages supplies per policy; utilizes equipment and resources cost-effectively without compromising patient care.
• Assists with unit support duties including room turnover, cleaning, and bed preparation as needed.
• Provides PACU care by maintaining airway patency, monitoring vital signs, administering pain medications, collaborating with surgeons and anesthesiologists, and evaluating readiness for Phase I to Phase II discharge.
• Follows established transfer processes for sending patients to affiliated medical centers.
• Functions as a float nurse, maintaining communication across departments, supporting patient flow, and providing staff break coverage in a cost-effective manner.
• Works in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned.
• Assists with anesthesia supplies and nerve blocks; maintains familiarity with crash cart, malignant hyperthermia cart, and emergency medications.
• Participates in committee meetings, contributes improvement suggestions, and seeks guidance when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

Experience:
• Experience in ambulatory surgery, pre-op, PACU, or perioperative nursing
• Experience with IV therapy, EKGs, and post-anesthesia patient monitoring
• Float experience across multiple procedural or recovery areas preferred

Licenses and Certifications:
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred

Education:
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
