We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Valley Center, California. This role requires someone who can work independently, quickly grasp new concepts, and contribute to the financial operations of our company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with expertise in journal entries, general ledger management, and advanced Excel functions.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post accurate journal entries to ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform bank reconciliations, including managing multiple zero balance accounts and sweep accounts.
• Handle accounting for multiple entities under a single organizational structure and ensure proper allocation of funds between entities.
• Manage corporate and sales tax processes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Analyze and resolve discrepancies in financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and V-lookups, to analyze and organize financial data.
• Work with retail accounting processes and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to complete accounting projects efficiently.
• Operate and maintain accounting systems such as QuickBooks and Sage Intacct, or similar high-end platforms.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports to support decision-making.• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables and V-lookups.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entries.
• Experience with accounting for multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
• Knowledge of retail accounting principles and practices.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation.
• Ability to reconcile bank accounts and manage sweep accounts.
• Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or other high-end platforms.
