Overview As a Security Guard - Utility Site in Arroyo Grande, CA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities and more. As a Part-Time Security Officer, you’ll use our exclusive Claim a Shift platform to view and pick up open shifts based on your availability—giving you the freedom to build a schedule that works for you, while gaining valuable site experience across various industries. As a Patrol Officer with Allied Universal, you will play a key role in maintaining a secure environment at a utilities location. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular patrols throughout the premises, remaining highly visible to help deter security-related incidents, and providing outstanding customer service to everyone you encounter. You will be expected to use your communication skills to interact with visitors and staff, while also utilizing technology such as computers or tablets to support your duties. This position requires driving as part of your daily responsibilities, so a valid driver's license is necessary. What You’ll Do Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise Responsibilities Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities. Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner. Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and its perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and/or suspicious behavior. Working environments and conditions may vary by location. Observe and report any unusual activity or security-related concerns to the appropriate personnel. Assist with access control by monitoring entry and exit points as required by site procedures. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, visitors, and Allied Universal management as needed. What We’re Looking For Availability across various days and shifts Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments A desire to gain broad experience and grow within the company Interest in transitioning into full-time roles when available Minimum Requirements A valid driver’s license is required and must meet Allied Universal Driver Policy requirements. Possession of a Guard Card or security-related license is preferred. Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred. Customer service experience is preferred. Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred. Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
