STI is seeking a Material Engineer to support critical defense programs requiring advanced material science expertise. The ideal candidate will analyze, evaluate, and ensure the quality and performance of materials used in defense systems and structures. This role will focus on supply chain integrity, material certification, and compliance with military performance and safety standards.
\n Key Responsibilities: \nPerform materials characterization and analysis to identify vulnerabilities in the supply chain that may impact end item processing and mission readiness.
\nEvaluate and certify raw materials, including composites, metals, ceramics, and polymers, to meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
\nProvide technical support and design analysis for materials selection and application in defense systems.
\nWork with engineering and supply chain teams to ensure compliance with applicable material standards and certifications.
\nSupport risk assessments, audits, and documentation related to materials and supply chain integrity.
\nMaintain awareness of relevant military and industry standards, including AMPP and ISO/EN 10204.
\nEnsure all processes and materials meet DoD and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) regulations.
\nActive Secret Clearance
\nInformation Assurance Certification: Level II IT Certification
\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
\nMinimum of 2 years of professional experience working with the DoD or Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
\nProficiency in conducting materials characterization and supply chain analysis.
\nStrong understanding of advanced materials (composites, metals, ceramics, and polymers).
\nCoursework or certification from Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) , ISO/EN 10204 , or equivalent material certification programs.
\nExperience with raw material certifications and compliance documentation.
\n2+ years of experience in manufacturing or supply chain management with specialized design analysis expertise.
\nFamiliarity with defense systems and material performance requirements.
