Part-Time Editor (Lifestyle Magazine) - Flexible & Hybrid Opportunity in Winston-Salem

Join an award-winning lifestyle publication that brings Winston-Salem to life through inspiring storytelling and engaging photos and digital media.

We're looking for a strong, creative editor and versatile multi-tasker who will do everything from assigning and editing articles to writing headlines and creating Instagram reels.

This part-time role averages 20-25 hours per week with flexible scheduling and remote-work options. Occasional shifts and event appearances required in Winston-Salem, NC.

The editor must have a track record in editing, digital media and supervising freelancers. Design experience is a plus.

Your responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate seven glossy print issues per year, coordinating with photographers, freelance writers and remote design studio

Generate, assign and edit content for print, online and social media

Manage social platforms (Instagram & Facebook), posting daily and tracking engagement

Collaborate with sales to align content with business goals

Oversee twice-monthly e-newsletter and occasional newspaper special sections

Coordinate online contests.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field

Three-plus years' experience line-editing

Experience supervising freelancers or remote employees

Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple products in a fast-paced environment

Keen eye for visual composition and color balance

Strong initiative and comfort with self-direction

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Clear, proactive communication style, able to work with designers, ad-sales representatives and writers

Comfortable giving and receiving feedback to uphold quality standards

Nice to Have :

Print or web design experience (InDesign, Photoshop)

Experience growing social media audiences

Experience uploading content to online publishing portal

Search Engine Optimization

Technical Skills:

Proficient in AP style

Familiarity with image formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP), resolution, and compression techniques

CMS publishing and email marketing tools
